Olympus - High speed video system
Challenge
Olympus Industrial, the world’s leader in remote visual inspection equipment, had developed “i-SPEED “ a high speed video (HSV) system to provide freeze-frame and capture and slow-motion of high speed events. Olympus asked PDD to develop the visual and interface design consistent with the quality of its technology.
Solution
A cohesive visual brand language was created across the camera, display unit and remote control. The design needed to project the sophistication and value of the technology yet be robust enough for use in industrial environments. Careful selection of materials, process, form and visual detailing ensured a refined system design. PDD worked closely with the Olympus team to optimise the ergonomics of use to be suitable for general and advanced users alike.
Result
i-SPEED has improved versatility, appearance and ease of use: just ‘power-on’ and it is ready to capture events at up to 33,000 fps.
