The brief

Olympus Industrial, the world leader in remote visual inspection equipment, engaged us to help them launch i-SPEED, a high-speed video (HSV) system that provides a slow-motion view of high-speed events. 

What we did

Firstly, we developed an industrial design to create a visual brand language across the three components of the system: the camera, the display unit and its remote control. We worked closely with the Olympus team to understand the requirements of these three different units and as a result, we were able to engineer it so the camera can be configured with either the remote control, display unit or via a PC. This flexibility makes the i-SPEED system suitable for general and advanced users alike. Just ‘power-on’ and the system is ready to go, capturing events at up to 33,000 frames per second. The aesthetic over this needed to reflect the sophistication of the technology yet be robust enough for use in industrial environments so careful handling of design details, materials and finishes resulted in what you see here.

According to Olympus, the i-SPEED ‘has a style that gives every user an excellent first impression’.
