Streamlining an already streamlined process

The brief

Vocollect, the global leader in voice-directed technology, has revolutionised warehouses worldwide by replacing paper instruction lists and computer screens with advanced voice recognition technologies. This has resulted in better productivity, increased accuracy, and improved employee retention across the board. What they wanted from us was a brand new design for their latest range. 

What we did

Our first job was to go and see first-hand what the requirements were for this kind of technology, and how the existing solutions could be improved upon. Our human science team conducted extensive field research culminating in what we established as a need for reduced size, greater versatility, wireless operation and longer battery life. The resulting curved design you see here is 33% smaller and 45% lighter than its predecessor. It’s waterproof, vibration-resistant and dust-tight. Its shock-resistant construction and novel connectors protect data whilst its elastomeric skin provides scuff protection. And it will operate in a freezer at -30º as happily as it will from inside a greenhouse.

The Talkman T5 is now widely regarded as the industry leader, offering exceptional freedom of mobility, precision and durability.
