13.03.08 The PDD Challenge for Imperial Engineering Students
PDD ran an Engineering Design Competition called 'The PDD Challenge' in conjunction with Imperial College. Year 3 and 4 mechanical engineering students taking a foundation course in ’Design, Art and Creativity for Engineers' were asked to work together in teams of four and create conceptual sketches of an intelligent clothing product that will encourage children to get involved in physical activity and participate with their peer group.
The judging took place at PDD on March 11. The announcement of the winning teams and an exhibition of all the work was held at the Imperial College Mechanical Engineering Building in London on March 12. The exhibition was open to the public between 13-14 March.
The winning teams of the PDD Challenge were:
1st prize: Susan Golton, Philip Richardson and Faraby Farid
2nd prize: Elizabeth Hyde, Virgil Scott, Nasir Ilyas and Yasaee Mehdi
