Life at PDD - Ollie, Snr Design Consultant
"I started at PDD during the summer of 2007 as a freelance designer and was quickly taken on as a permanent team member in the autumn. Two years later I have progressed to Senior Design Consultant level and now lead the FMCG sector here. I continue to work on and manage projects across many sectors, working closely with client teams, manufacturers and driving our FMCG offering.
PDD gets involved in such a variety of projects. As a designer there is great scope to be involved in exciting projects and develop new skills in consumer insight, design strategy and service design. The portfolio of projects I’ve worked on here has been wide and colourful, most of which are confidential or in the process of being launched, but one of the highlights has been the product range we have designed for Vicon, including the iF award winning T-Series Motion Capture Camera.
A day at PDD for me normally starts with a fast commute across London by bike, which is something that many people at PDD do, this is followed by a bowl of muesli... oh yeah and a good latte!
PDD is well integrated in terms of designers, researchers, strategists, engineers and model makers etc all working together, which makes for a lively working dynamic and means there is plenty of experience on hand to offer knowledge, advice and perspective on your work... and plenty of people to chat to in the pub!
We are lucky that we have a number of resources available to us, from making models / test rigs in the workshop, to using onsite focus group facilities to assess product outcomes with users."
